Accent Tag! | Australian Accent

30 June 2016

Hey guys! It's been a long week, but it's almost finished - thank goodness!!

I was at a bit of a loss as to what I wanted to film for my channel this week, so I consulted my blogging/vlogging notebook (yes, I'm one of those people!) and browsed my list of video ideas from a while back.

It didn't take long for me to decide to try my hand at the Accent Tag - it's a pretty random but fun video and actually kind of interesting. Since I'd watched a few of these videos this week already I took it as a sign that this was the video for me to film this week!

And so, I did! Check it out and let me know what you think, where you're from, and any differences or similarities you picked up on! I really hope you enjoy the video!

5 Great TV Shows to Binge Watch on Netflix | Winter 2016

28 June 2016

Pictures are not my own (well, obviously haha)!

It's June, and officially Winter here in Australia. I've just finished my final assignments and exams for the uni semester, and schools are also coming (or already have, I'm not quite sure anymore!) to an end for the winter holidays.

With all this free time after a long semester of eat. sleep. study. repeat. it's no surprise I'm ready to sit down and indulge myself in some binge-watching of TV shows on Netflix while complaining about how 'it's too cold' (only to wish it was this cold again come summer).

To help you out with your Netflix playlist over the holidays, I've put together a list of my top 5 great TV shows to binge watch. If you like a bit of sci-fi, fantasy, action and drama like I do, then you're bound to enjoy these!

1. Doctor Who: To all the whovians out there - don't go crazy, but until a couple of weeks ago, I had never watched Doctor Who before! Okay, actually there was one time mum was switching the channels on TV a few years ago and left the end of an episode on because a movie was coming on next, so I saw a bit of the 10th Doctor, Rose and Dalek action but I had no idea what it was all about and never saw it again - until recently!

This show is seriously good, and seriously addictive. The truth is, I've always been a bit of a sci-fi nerd (read - a lot, Harry Potter was and still is my favourite thing ever). But for some reason, I never bought into the hype about this show, which I feel totally stupid for now but hey, it just means there's 8 seasons of it (well, on Netflix, apparently there's actually 9 but Netflix is a bit slow) for me to binge watch and I've accepted that challenge! I'd definitely recommend checking this show out, or if you've already seen it all, you'll know it's the perfect show to watch again these holidays!

Watch this if you like... Harry Potter, Sherlock Holmes, The Avengers, basically anything sci-fi and mystery related!

2. Torchwood: A spin-off of Doctor Who, after the second season I began watching this show as per the timeline of events that brought Jack to Torchwood Three. I love this show almost as much as Doctor Who, and I like that it's got a bit of a different feel. It's a bit more 'mature' than Doctor Who and is best suited to a young adult and older audience, for example the content is a bit darker, there seems to be more anti-Alien death, and of course (as you'll notice in the very first episode), there is a fair bit of sex featured which is something Doctor Who does not entertain. It feels like you're watching the 'Buffy' of the Doctor Who world, and with interesting storylines and some great acting, is perfect to binge watch this winter!

Watch this if you like... Doctor Who (It's a spin-off of Doctor Who so this one's kind of obvious!), Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Charmed.

3. Pretty Little Liars: Chances are you'll have seen this one already, but it's just so good! Not to mention that re-watching the series will shed a whole new light on the storyline and you'll start to see all of the 'A' clues that you weren't able to put together the first time round. And honestly, all that drama and mystery makes for an incredibly seductive and addictive night in!

Watch this if you like... Gossip Girl, The Lying Game.

4. Shadow Hunters: The TV Series based off of the book series of the same name, and so much better than the film adaption (sorry Lily Collins, you're amazing but that film was awful)! Once again, the sci-fi nerd inside of me has made an appearance. This show is another classic teen sci-fi/drama filled with lots of action, secrets, and a romance or two that'll have you shouting at the TV (or computer screen) for the characters to get together already! I'm keenly awaiting the next season!

Watch this if you like... Doctor Who, The Vampire Diaries, Teen Wolf, or the Shadow Hunters book series of course!

5. Orphan Black: A series about clones, science and genetics with a whole lot of danger and action - this show is seriously addictive and unique in comparison to many of the current shows on offer! Just when you think one problem is solved, another presents itself and the cycle of drama spins around and around again! Not to mention, there are some seriously attractive males gracing the screen of this show! Check it out - seriously!

Watch this if you like... Limitless, Law & Order, CSI, The Tomorrow People.

I'd also like to give a special mention to London Spy, Jessica Jones, Shameless and Skins. All great shows that are definitely worth checking out!

Anyway, I hope this post has been helpful and you've been able to discover something new to binge watch while you curl up in bed these winter holidays!

Have you seen any of these shows already, and if so, do you love them? Also, leave me a comment letting me know any of your recommendations because at this rate, I'll have a good 3 to 4 weeks of holidays left once I've finished binge watching all of these!

MAC's Viva Glam II

23 June 2016

Hi again lovely readers!

The last week seems to have flown by pretty quickly, and I've mostly been working, binge watching TV shows on Netflix (you can check out my top 5 shows to binge on post here), catching up on blogging and sleeping a lot. So a typical start to the holidays!

A few days ago I was in the city browsing stores, I had a jumper I didn't absolutely love that I wanted to return to Zara and since the only Zara in Brisbane is in, well, Brisbane CBD, that meant a trip to the city and some time to kill. I browsed Zara for a bit, but despite finding some lovely pieces (and being obsessed with buying clothes more so than makeup), I made the return and left empty-handed.

Well, until I strolled into the beauty section of Myer and found that this MAC concession store had all of the Viva Glam lipsticks in stock! I had a look at all of them, but ultimately (as you already know) decided on Viva Glam II. It's just such a gorgeous, muted nudey-pinky-mauvey colour and comes in the special packaging - I couldn't resist!

As the third MAC lipstick in my collection, I can already tell you that this one is my new favourite! It's such a gorgeous shade, it's a satin lipstick (which I think is my favourite finish from MAC), and it looks so lovely on - it definitely compliments pale skin and dark eyes! Not to mention, as a part of the Viva Glam collection, all of the proceeds from this purchase go to the MAC AIDS Fund, so it's good to know my money is going somewhere it can do some good for others!

I'd love to hear your thoughts on this lipstick - do you own it? Would you like to? Or what other MAC Viva Glam lipsticks do you have on your wishlist? Leave a comment below letting me know!

Have a lovely weekend!

Off the Shoulder

18 June 2016

My Outfit:
Neck Tie - Dissh
Off Shoulder Top - Dissh
Jamie Jeans - Topshop
Chelsea Boots - Famous Footwear

Hey guys, I hope you've all had a fantastic week! I'm finally done with the first semester of university, I had an exam on Tuesday and now I'm free until the end of July - about time, I've been needing a break!

I wanted to show you one of my favourite new pieces today, which is this off the shoulder black, white and caramel/beige-y striped top from Dissh. I've been loving the off the shoulder trend lately (actually I've always liked it but never really actually gone out and tried it), so when I spotted this top at my local Dissh I fell in love! I love that it's nice, neutral colours in a classic striped print - my favourite - and it goes with pretty much anything!

I paired it with this neck tie, also from Dissh (very 90's trend-y), along with my staple black jamie jeans and a pair of chelsea boots - pretty minimal, with just a touch of trendy!

I'd love to hear your thoughts on off the shoulder tops - do you love em' or hate em'? What do you think of this look?

May Favourites

9 June 2016

Hi guys! Hope you're all well! x

It's finally June a.k.a Winter here in Brisbane, not that it really feels like it half the time, but it's cooling down a little bit so that's always a good time!

I've finally finished all my uni assignments and just have one exam left, but a lot more free time and so I sat down and filmed a new video for you guys all about my favourite things in May! I should be back to a more regular uploading schedule over on my channel from now on, with new videos every Thursday so be sure to subscribe if you haven't already to see all my new videos as soon as they go up!

I'm also planning to post two to three times a week here on my blog, I'm still trying to figure out the logistics of that and the best days but I'm thinking of a weekday/two weekday posts, and a weekend post - I'd love your input, when would you like me to post and how often!?

Anyway, I hope you enjoy this video and I'll talk to you soon! Have a great week and weekend!

Neck Tie & Mom Jeans

1 June 2016

My Outfit:
Neck Tie - Dissh
Cami - Cotton On
Mom Jeans - ASOS
Handbag - Colette
Sandals - Famous Footwear

It's officially winter today - and by winter I mean the equivalent of an early autumn in most parts of the world, thanks Brisbane! I hope you've all been well!

There's been quite a bit going on in my life lately, and honestly it's a bit too much for me to be unloading all into this one outfit post so I think I'll have to put together a dedicated post to catch you guys up with everything - I might even make a video on my channel to go over everything - but as long as you're following this blog or subbed over on my channel you'll see as soon as I update (not-so-subtle hint right there)!

Let's just say things have been pretty busy and stressful of late, but I think I've decided how I'm going to move forward and I already feel like a weight has been lifted! Anyway, on to the outfit!

I actually threw this look together in just a couple of minutes as I was rushing to get ready for uni last minute (as usual), so I was pleasantly surprised with how it turned out! I purchased this lovely black neck tie from Dissh for only $15 a week ago because I'm a bit lacking in accessorising pieces right now and wanted something current yet classic that I could wear with most of the pieces already in my wardrobe. I love that this tie can be worn in so many different ways, however today I chose to tie it into a bow for this look and love the classic feminine touch it adds to the outfit!

The cami is a basic check print with lace trimmings at the top. I actually bought this about a year ago and never really knew how to wear it for some reason, but I wanted something cool and simple today and it was the first thing that caught my eye! The lace trimming is actually a lovely touch that is very on trend right now with the cami/slip 90's trend that's been quite popular lately, so I guess you could say I saw it coming (or my obsession with 90's grunge got the best of me, either way)!

I'm in love with these denim, ripped knee Farleigh mom jeans from ASOS. I was terrified of taking a risk with buying mom jeans instead of my regular high-rise skinnies but I told myself to take a risk because I adore how they look on others, and lo-and-behold, I adore how they look on me! They're so comfy, so flattering, the ripped knees make them super wearable for everyday and the light blue colour is so lovely! I've already started saving for three more pairs from ASOS that I'll hopefully be getting in the near future!

I hope you enjoyed this post and love the look, please let me know what you think by leaving a comment down below telling me your thoughts and what you like most about this look! I'd also love any recommendations on what you'd like to see next on the blog!

xoxo,

Chontelle
