OUTFIT OF THE DAY | The Shift Dress

13 March 2016

My Outfit;
Shift Dress - Dissh
Floppy Hat - Factorie
Necklace - Colette
Bracelet - Diva
Shoes - H&M

Hey lovelies! I hope you've all had a great week, I know I have! I was browsing the racks of my local Dissh store on Monday and I discovered this total gem of a dress, and after applying my student discount, I managed to snap it up for only $46.25! What a great deal!

It's got the nicest feeling material, super comfortable and really flattering I feel! I love that I can dress it up, but I can also dress it down as a casual outfit for uni - I know I'll get a lot of wear out of this one!

What do you think of this dress? Let me know down below, and have a lovely week!

My Outfit:
Bowler Hat - H&M
Trench Coat - Cotton On
Infinity Scarf - H&M
Shoulder Bag - Colette
Grey Shoulder Cut-Out Top - Temt
Black High-Waist Skinny's - H&M
Black Buckled Booties - I'm not 100% as they're mum's, but I'm going with Big W :)

It's been so so so cold lately here in Melbourne, but over the last few days the weather has finally started to let up just a little and I've been able to make the transition from thermal ski attire, to warm winter layers (no, I'm not over-exaggerating - my body is not made for this kind of climate)!

This outfit is effortlessly classy, while maintaining casual comfort and warmth. The minimal colour scheme is perfect for a winter outing. I wore this outfit the other day when I went to the Crown Conservatory in Southbank for a buffet lunch with mum, and it was perfect for sitting and consuming large portions of food in (and the coat did a great job of hiding my food baby in the aftermath)!

What do you like (or dislike) about this look?

Khaki & Plaid

6 May 2015

My Outfit:
Khaki Jacket - H&M
Oversized Plaid Shirt-Dress - Melrose Ave
Stockings - Big W
Black Boots - Famous Footwear

Yesterday was a pretty great day, albeit a cold one! Mum and I went in to the city for the day for some shopping & lunch (see my previous post on Gekkazan, the best Japanese food I've had in a long time)!

Let me just say, the shopping in Melbourne is amazing. Of course it is, though - after all, Melbourne does hold the title of Shopping Capital of Australia! I picked up some amazing bargains, with all but two of my purchases being dramatically reduced! *happy dance* I grabbed myself a new pair of black suede-feel boots reduced from $60 to $20, and a huge bag full of sale items from H&M for both mum and I, including the fab Khaki Jacket/Coat I'm wearing in these pictures! I'm actually considering doing a Haul post (or maybe even a Youtube video?) so if you'd be interested in that, please let me know! :3

Anyway. So the jacket is from H&M, and it's already one of my favourite pieces. I've wanted a khaki jacket for years now so I'm so so happy that I've finally gotten myself one! It's so comfy and surprisingly very warm considering it's not that thick! Perfect for layering!

My oversized plaid shirt-dress is also a relatively new purchase, from Melrose Ave. I've wanted one of these for a while now (ever since Kylie Jenner bought the shirt-dress look to my attention via good ole' instagram), and this one is just perfect! Super comfy and warm, lovely thick flannel material and (imho) looks great on! And of course, once again I've paired my outfit with my staple imitation doc's, my favourite and comfiest shoes!

You may not be able to tell, but it was super cold and blowing a gale when these photos were taken, to the point that I almost didn't bother! But then I spotted Melbourne's Parliament House and thought how great the photos would look taken on those stairs, and here we are! #priorities right?

What do you think of this look? Love it, or hate it? Let me know!

Gekkazan, Melbourne | Review

5 May 2015

This was the first time I'd ever had udon, something I'd actually been wanting to try for so long now, so I was really excited to try it! We'd just had a long morning of shopping, shopping & more shopping, so we were eager to find somewhere to relax and have some lunch (and be able to put down all our purchases and rest our arms)!

We had actually just finished at H&M and were on our way out, when we looked to our left and notices people eating in a small enclosed laneway on the back side of H&M. We decided to go and investigate, and I'm so glad because that's where we found Gekkazan!

Gekkazan is a Japanese chain-restaurant serving mostly udon and ramen dishes, but also sushi rolls, dumplings, bento boxes and a few other bits and pieces! Mum went with the winter special 'Curry Udon' which along with the udon noodles, had a mix of vegetables, tofu and beef.

I decided on the Chicken Udon ($12), which was a lovely choice. It was nice, clean, fresh & simple. The chicken was perfectly cooked and the noodles were so delicious!

There was a deal on where if you bought a meal then you'd get the Gyoza Special (dumplings) for only $5.95 with it (usually $9.90), and since we were starving we took them up on that offer! I grabbed the vege dumplings while mum chose the pork dumplings - both were amazing!

Gekkazan was definitely a hit for us, and will surely become a regular haunt on future trips to the CBD.

Have you tried Udon before? Love it, or hate it? Let me know in the comments below! x
