Topshop Ripped Denim Jamie Jeans | Review

2 July 2016

Finding the perfect pair of jeans is honestly one of the most difficult things a girl can do, but it is absolutely essential! I've spent the better part of the last 12 months doing just that and I seem to have found my perfect match: the Topshop Jamie Jeans!

With the mid-high rise, skinny fit, and perfect amount of fabric flexibility (neither the too-legging like jeggings, nor the thick and stiff 'proper' denim), these jeans fit like a glove and make me look and feel incredible! These are actually my second pair of Jamie Jeans, but I've been wearing them so much over the last few weeks that I just wanted to share my thoughts on them with those of you who may be interested or even considering purchasing them for yourself!

One major difference between this pair, and the Black Jamie Jeans I already own is that the fabric does feel a little thinner or more flexible, which I don't mind at all! I think this may have something to do with the fact that these have the two ripped knees, because I've tried on a few different colours with distressed detailing and they all seem to be made of less 'structured' material than their un-ripped alternatives. This isn't a bad thing at all - I feel like the extra flexibility is needed for ripped jeans because after all, they're a more casual and relaxed look and you want to be able to sit cross-legged and be more comfortable in them!

These jeans are super comfy and very flattering, especially on someone like me with a relatively 'straight up-and-down' figure as the higher waist and slim fit shows off a bit of shape. Also, they keep their shape after being washed (hand-washed, most of my clothes get hand-washed because it's the most gentle way of cleaning them and means they will generally look better and last longer)! Honestly, at only $95 AUD (or $86 AUD with the in-store student discount!!) they're great quality and relatively affordable jeans that will fit right in to any wardrobe!

What do you think of these jeans - do you have a pair of your own? Are you thinking about purchasing any sometime soon? Leave a comment letting me know!

Neck Tie & Mom Jeans

1 June 2016

My Outfit:
Neck Tie - Dissh
Cami - Cotton On
Mom Jeans - ASOS
Handbag - Colette
Sandals - Famous Footwear

It's officially winter today - and by winter I mean the equivalent of an early autumn in most parts of the world, thanks Brisbane! I hope you've all been well!

There's been quite a bit going on in my life lately, and honestly it's a bit too much for me to be unloading all into this one outfit post so I think I'll have to put together a dedicated post to catch you guys up with everything - I might even make a video on my channel to go over everything - but as long as you're following this blog or subbed over on my channel you'll see as soon as I update (not-so-subtle hint right there)!

Let's just say things have been pretty busy and stressful of late, but I think I've decided how I'm going to move forward and I already feel like a weight has been lifted! Anyway, on to the outfit!

I actually threw this look together in just a couple of minutes as I was rushing to get ready for uni last minute (as usual), so I was pleasantly surprised with how it turned out! I purchased this lovely black neck tie from Dissh for only $15 a week ago because I'm a bit lacking in accessorising pieces right now and wanted something current yet classic that I could wear with most of the pieces already in my wardrobe. I love that this tie can be worn in so many different ways, however today I chose to tie it into a bow for this look and love the classic feminine touch it adds to the outfit!

The cami is a basic check print with lace trimmings at the top. I actually bought this about a year ago and never really knew how to wear it for some reason, but I wanted something cool and simple today and it was the first thing that caught my eye! The lace trimming is actually a lovely touch that is very on trend right now with the cami/slip 90's trend that's been quite popular lately, so I guess you could say I saw it coming (or my obsession with 90's grunge got the best of me, either way)!

I'm in love with these denim, ripped knee Farleigh mom jeans from ASOS. I was terrified of taking a risk with buying mom jeans instead of my regular high-rise skinnies but I told myself to take a risk because I adore how they look on others, and lo-and-behold, I adore how they look on me! They're so comfy, so flattering, the ripped knees make them super wearable for everyday and the light blue colour is so lovely! I've already started saving for three more pairs from ASOS that I'll hopefully be getting in the near future!

I hope you enjoyed this post and love the look, please let me know what you think by leaving a comment down below telling me your thoughts and what you like most about this look! I'd also love any recommendations on what you'd like to see next on the blog!

xoxo,

Chontelle

City Check | OOTD

7 May 2016

My Outfit:
Blouse - Melrose Avenue
Pants - Dotti
Shoes - Famous Footwear
Bag - Colette
Bracelet - Butterfly Silver

Hi loves! Hope you're all well and have had a great week!

Yesterday I had to head into the city to go to the doctors as well as uni, but of course I wanted to have a look around the shops too! The weather is a bit weird at the moment here in Brisbane, one minute it's cold and feels like we're about to reach winter, and the next it feels like the start of summer! So I played it safe with a pair of long printed pants that I got on sale from Dotti (only $19.95!), paired with a navy blouse I actually only bought the day before (also on sale, $20!) from Melrose Avenue. I love the way these pieces look together, especially with the suttle, understated check pattern on the shirt (you may not have noticed until now), everything seems to come together quite nicely!

As it got later though, I did regret not adding a cardigan to the mix. But with Brisbane-s bi-polar weather at the moment, how was I to know!? Next time, haha.

What do you think of this look? Leave a comment down below letting me know, and have a fab weekend!

OUTFIT OF THE DAY | Print & Bow

27 March 2016

My Outfit:
Top: Dissh
Shorts: Dissh
Bracelet: ASOS
Sandals: Kmart

Hey loves! Hope you've had a lovely week - I'm so sorry for the lack of posts over the last few days! I've been a bit busy (I got a new job at last, after almost 5 weeks back in Brisbane!!) and honestly a little bit unmotivated, but it's holidays and I knew I needed to get my butt into gear and get back into things!

Last weekend Dissh was having a 20% off all full priced items sale, so of course I picked up some things! The top and shorts normall would have totalled $100 but I grabbed them for $80 and I'm so so happy because I just love them! The shorts are the cutest and look really nice/dressy and classy, perfect for almost any occasion. And the top is high-neck (hello obsession) and black (hello again, obsession) and cropped (yup hello!!) so of course I'm loving it! And I think that put together they make the cutest lil' outfit that I wore to uni the other day actually!

What do you think of this look? Let me know below xx

OUTFIT OF THE DAY | Suede & Minimal

4 March 2016

My Outfit:
Top - Factorie
Bag - Colette
Shorts - Temt
Bracelet - Diva
Signet Ring - Prouds
Shoes - Kmart

These shorts are fast becoming one of my favourite statement pieces in my wardrobe. I love the colour, and I love that suede is in because I've always been obsessed with it and being able to wear it out and about is the best thing ever!

These shorts are so comfy and paired with minimal black pieces and some simple silver jewellery, it's a very casual yet put together look. I actually wore this outfit the other day for my first day back at uni and I felt super comfortable and stylish in it.

I hope you're all well and have an amazing week!

6 Steps to a Minimal Wardrobe

29 November 2015

Over the past couple of months I've slowly but surely begun the process of becoming a minimalist. I've always been a fan of simplicity, and as someone with high anxiety and stress levels, minimalism is a great way to approach all aspects of my life.

The first place I wanted to start is the place I felt needed the most attention - my wardrobe. I had years and years worth of clothes in colours and patterns I absolutely hated now, and always struggled to find something to wear each morning as I not only had to rummage through so many unnecessary items, but I was missing key wardrobe pieces!

Now I'm not an expert by any means, but deciding to lead a minimal lifestyle and simplifying my wardrobe has made my life a lot easier and freed up a lot of my time. So, these are my six simple steps to a minimal wardrobe - I hope you find them helpful! x

1. Figure Out Your Colour Palette.
Neutrals are your best friends. Of course there's the obvious - black, white and grey. These shades are essential, as they look great with anything and never go out of style. Likewise, you've got your nudes, creams, beiges & taupes. Again, these colours are versatile and timeless. You may also want to include a few 'pops' of colour in your wardrobe, but it's a good idea to stick to no more than two or three. For me, I've gone with khaki, dusty/rosy pinks, and the occasional deep red/burgundy piece. Again, these colours tend to be simple, versatile and timeless.

2. Pull Everything Out of Your Wardrobe.
And I mean everything. It might will seem extremely overwhelming at first, but it's the only effective way to see exactly what you've got and figure out what you want to keep and what you really don't need anymore.

3. Sort Everything Into Three Piles.
The first pile will be of items you want to keep - more specifically, items that you wear often and can pair with one another. The second pile will be of items that are still in good condition but for whatever reason (no longer fit, out of style, etc) you haven't worn in a while and are unlikely to wear again, and these can be sold or given away. The third and final pile will be of items to be thrown away. Once you've completed this step, it's a good idea to repeat it to ensure you're only keeping the items you're definitely going to wear.

4. Find Out What's Missing.
If you're completely new to minimalism, chances are though you may have lots of clothes, you could be missing the essentials. So this is where you figure out what essential pieces are missing from your wardrobe. Denim, black, and white jeans and shorts. A little black dress. A black leather jacket. A simple white jumper or the classic white tee. Find out what you 'need' in your wardrobe and acquire these pieces.

5. Pick Up Some Versatile Pieces.
Now that you've got the originals and the essentials, you can pick up some of the pieces you want in your wardrobe. I'm not saying to go crazy with colours and patterns - please, avoid this at all costs (you didn't go through the first four steps for nothing, did you?)! I'm saying, this is the time to pick up some versatile yet interesting pieces. Maybe you want some cropped, long sleeved or strappy shirts? Do you want some skirts or heels? And if you still like your patterns, you can't go wrong with stripes! I find that experimenting with cuts and fits is much more forgiving than experimenting with patterns and colour.

6. Organise Your Wardrobe.
Now that you've decluttered, gotten rid of the items that don't belong in your wardrobe and picked up the pieces you know you'll love, it's time to organise things. As you put your items back into your wardrobe, be aware of where the pieces go and how you want to place everything. There's no set rule for this step, as everybody is different. You may like to colour code, you may like to organise your clothes by season or item type, or you may have a completely different approach! The most important thing is that it makes sense to you and you know where everything is.
