LONDON STYLE

11 December 2022

Ahh, London - one of my all-time favourite cities - it holds a special place in my heart!

If you're heading out to explore London, my best bit of advice is to dress comfortably - you're gonna be on your feet (a lot), walking, running between buses and up and down old flights of stairs to catch the tube, and trying your best to zig-zag between massive crowds - especially if you're out on a sunny day or the weekend.

My go-to style was definitely lots of black and denim (trying to keep up with that minimal but cool aesthetic Londoner's seem to do so effortlessly), sneakers and ankle boots, and a good jacket to chuck over any outfit - because the weather can be highly unpredictable!

Items featured:
Oversized faux leather jacket - Princess Polly
Crossbody bag - Peta & Jain
Tie front top - Ally Fashion
Dark denim mom jeans - Zara
LBD - Princess Polly
Wide leg jeans - Thats So Fetch
Ankle boots - Dolls Kill (Current Mood)
Sneakers - Nike

TE AMO, BARCELONA

26 September 2022

Back in May, after being unable to travel for so long due to Covid, I finally got to visit the beautiful city of Barcelona, Spain. I've done my fair share of travelling, Europe as a whole being my favourite part of the world to explore - which is, of course, why I keep going back for more!

Barcelona is a city my mother has always wanted to visit, and one I've had on my list for some time now too.

If you're visiting Barcelona, there's one place you absolutely must visit - Park Guell. This UNESCO World Heritage Listed park was designed by famous Spanish architect Antoni Gaudi, and honestly, as stunning as it is in photographs, getting to visit and explore it in person was just incredible.

Another must-see when visiting Barcelona is no doubt La Sagrada Familia. Designed by Gaudi with construction starting back in 1882, this is the largest unfinished Roman Catholic Church (currently set to be completed in 2026), and it was absolutely breathtaking.

We stayed in a lovely hotel in a central location in the heart of the city's Gothic Quarter, Hotel Barcelona Catedral. The staff were lovely, the room was clean and spacious with a great view, the bed was incredibly comfortable, and we got to enjoy some down time in the sun at the rooftop pool. Plus, the hotel has a restaurant and bar downstairs, and while I usually prefer exploring and finding local spots to eat, I can honestly say the tapas here were delicious and had us coming back a fair few times during our stay!

We were in the perfect location for exploring the city, with "The World Begins With Every Kiss" Mural literally right outside our hotel, and the Barcelona Catedral right around the corner! We spent a lot of time wandering the streets and alleyways, and even got to see a Flamenco Show on our last night!

Of course, I can't forget to mention to food. I think I ate more in the short time we were in Barcelona than the majority of the rest of our Euro/Uk trip! Barcelona is filled with Tapas bars, which was perfect because we could always find somewhere to stop and get something tasty to fuel up on and enjoy some Sangria to wash it all down (because when in Barcelona, right)!

And the bakeries are next-level - I can honestly say that the pastries and sweet treats I tried in Barcelona are the best I've ever had (yes, even better than anything I've tried in Paris)! You've also got to grab a Spanish hot chocolate if you're here!

This visit to Barcelona was short and sweet, but I can already say this city is up there (alongside Rome) as one of my favourite cities I've visited, and I'll definitely be returning one day!

A DAY TRIP TO PARIS

26 August 2022

One of the most beautiful cities I've visited, Paris is one of those ultimate must-see, bucket list places to visit at some point in your life. I first visited back in 2014 as part of my first ever trip to Europe, and instantly fell in love. So of course, while visiting family in London in May, I had to organise a day trip to see the city again (even if only for a few hours).

I did all of the main touristy things the first time round, and had been back for the day since a few years earlier, so with the short timeframe we really just wanted to relax and enjoy being in this beautiful city. Arriving around lunch time, we caught a taxi from Gare du Nord over to the famous Les Deux Magots, where we enjoyed a couple of glasses of wine and a tasty cheese platter while we soaked in the sun (of course, we'd arrived during an unexpected Spring heatwave) and the Parisian atmosphere.

We then spent a few hours strolling around the Latin Quarter and then past Notre Dame (which is still as stunning as always from the front, despite being closed for extensive repairs - I'm grateful we were able to visit it before the fire) and along the Seine. Literally just walking around and taking in this beautiful city, the architecture and the atmosphere, stopping to grab a crepe or check out the quaint little side streets along the way.

And of course, no trip to Paris is complete without seeing the main attraction - The Eiffel Tower. It's honestly just magical to see, this is the third time I've visited Paris and it's still just as breathtaking each and every time. By the time we'd made it here, we'd been walking around the city for hours and the temperature was around 35* (we were not prepared), but it was so worth it. We grabbed a crepe from one of the little stands near the tower and then made our way over to the Trocadero Gardens to get the best view and some photos - enjoy the photo another tourist took of mum and I below (that angle though)!

While our time in Paris was short and sweet, I'm glad we got to visit again and just enjoy being in this beautiful city! Next time though, it'll have to be a proper stay for sure.

6 Places I Want to Visit After Covid-19

21 June 2021

If there's one thing I've really missed since the global pandemic hit, it's been getting to travel and explore new places. With Covid-19 essentially shutting down the world for the time being, it's left me daydreaming about the places I want to explore (or re-visit) once we're finally allowed to travel again.

From overseas sightseeing holidays, to more local trips I may be able to experience sooner, while there's certainly plenty more I'd like to see, here are six of the places I want to visit post-Covid!

1. New Orleans

This one has been on my list for a long time, and was always slated to be part of my next USA holiday. There's just something about this city - the quirky and picturesque architecture, the vibrant nightlife, dark and interesting history, and the spooky, witchy and spiritual side to the city is incredibly intriguing to me. It's definitely not the easiest or cheapest place to visit coming from Australia, but it's an absolute must for me.

2. South Africa

I've always wanted to visit South Africa. I'm half South African and would love to see the places my mum grew up and lived in, meet some of my family, and explore all of the stunning natural wonders the country has to offer.

3. Los Angeles

So I've actually already been here with mum back in 2012 (how is that nearly a decade ago now?!?!), and I really enjoyed it. We went over Christmas and honestly nobody does Christmas better and more extravagantly than Americans so I'd definitely recommend visiting during that time. However, I'd really love to visit maybe late summer or in the fall, when it's a little warmer and has a proper Cali vibe to it. There's so many things to do that we just didn't get the chance to, and travel agents warned us off visiting places that were 'dodgy' like Downtown LA or Venice Beach, that I actually would've loved to experience. There's also quirky walls and beautiful scenery to get those insta pics, and it's super vegetarian/vegan friendly, plus I'll be 25 (aka old enough to rent a car so we can drive to all these great spots) so I'm really excited for a second visit. Of course, going back Disneyland is a massive bonus too!

4. Sydney or Melbourne

Again, two places I've been to before (having lived in Melbourne for a year even), but I'd really love to go back to either of these two. They're Brisbane's big sisters and definitely have a lot more to see and do than I've been able to, and would be a more affordable holiday I could probably take pretty soon considering interstate travel is generally allowed at the moment (although I may wait a bit longer due to restrictions/border closures being pretty unpredictable for the moment).

5. Phuket

I was actually wanting to make this one of my next trips before Covid struck, it's a little closer to home for a cheaper international holiday and I've never visited anywhere in Asia before (strange for an Australian traveller, right?) so I thought it would be a really cool first trip over there. The beaches/water and sea-mountains (is that even what they're called? you know the ones I'm talking about) and caves to swim in just look stunning. I would've loved to have done a Contiki tour there as I've only ever travelled with family, and I'm hoping those tours will be back when it's finally time!

6. Tokyo

Honestly, I think Tokyo would be the coolest place to visit. First of all, I love the food, so I'd be eating very well. I also find the culture super interesting, they're so advanced in many ways and it's a bustling city that I'm sure I'd have no trouble finding great things to do and see in. I'd definitely want to visit during their Spring and see the Cherry Blossom trees in full bloom, visit some traditional Japanese gardens, learn more about the culture, and of course, take a trip to Tokyo Disneyland!

Where are you looking forward to visiting once we're allowed to travel again?

Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette | Review + Swatches

4 August 2016

I finally own the Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette! At last, it's mine!

As one of the most hyped, cult-status eyeshadow palettes in existence, and something found in just about every girl (and guy's) beauty collection, I certainly took my sweet time in picking up this beauty! I'll be honest, I tried very hard to ignore the hype, thinking nothing could beat my trusty UD Naked palette. Ha, was I wrong!

If the delicious, chocolatey scent that hit me when I opened the palette wasn't enough to make me fall in love, then the smooth and buttery texture of the shadows and the way they blended so easily when applied certainly sealed the deal!

The Chocolate Bar comes in a sturdy tin case that keeps the product safe, making it a great choice to bring along with you when you travel. I've got the 'new and improved' packaging, which is slimmer than the original and also has the shade names printed above each shade - which is a huge step up from the old plastic sleeve that everyone seemed to lose and really just dislike.

This palette has a versatile range of neutral, cool and warm toned shades that'll suit just about (if not) any skin tone/eye colour combination. There are 16 shades in total (6 matte, 10 shimmer) ranging from golds to browns, pinky/highlight shades, and even some 'stand-out' shades such as 'Cherry Cola' and 'Candied Violet' that add a nice albeit suttle touch of colour to any look.

Shades pictured (left to right) - Triple Fudge, Black Forest Truffle, Milk Chocolate, White Chocolate, Gilded Ganache.

Shades pictures (left to right) - Salted Caramel, Marzipan, Semi-Sweet, Strawberry Bon Bon, Candied Violet, Amaretto.

Shades pictured (left to right) - Champagne Truffle, Cherry Cola, Haute Chocolate, Crème Brulee, Hazelnut.

As I mentioned before, these shadows are buttery and smooth and blend like a dream! For the most part, they're very pigmented (unfortunately 'Strawberry Bon Bon' and 'Candied Violet' are lacking in this department), so you only need to tap lightly to pick up a fair bit of product on your brush.

At only $72 from Mecca Maxima here in Australia, this palette is great value for money and you won't be disappointed!

My favourite shades in this palette, and the ones I see myself using the most are; Marzipan, Hazelnut, Semi-Sweet, Milk Chocolate and Amaretto! But let's be honest, they're all gorgeous!

I'm extremely happy I finally jumped on the Too Faced Chocolate Bar bandwagon, and now I'm excited to try even more of the brands products - I've got my eye on the Cocoa Contour Palette and the Melted Chocolate Honey liquid lipstick, for starters!

Do you own the Chocolate Bar palette? What do you think of this palette?
